About Me

Dr. Heather Bjornebo has been practicing exotic animal medicine in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area since 2007 providing care to a variety of animals including rabbits, ferrets, parrots, other birds, turtles, snakes, lizards, and many other non-traditional exotic pet species. She is one of only 22 veterinarians boarded in reptile and amphibian practice through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners worldwide, and the only one providing full time veterinary services in Arizona. In addition, she is certified in aquatic animal medicine. Through the years practicing in Arizona, she has harbored close relationships with the locally owned pet store and animal hobby communities. She has volunteered through the Arizona Game and Fish Department providing care to both homeless desert tortoises and wildlife. Dr. Bjornebo is a member of the Turtle and Tortoise Preservation Group, a national hobbyist organization dedicated to propagating and preserving endangered species. She has spoken at numerous international conferences and provides continuing education services through the Veterinary Information Network.
